The Two Towers
2002-Dec-22, Sunday 10:18 amJust to add my own input here....
The elves in general were amazingly hot, I must say. That armor -- YUM! Their general look -- YUM! I'd LOVE to get hand on 4 or 5 of them for ... training. ;)
The whole situation with Grima and Theoden was just absolutely amazingly well crafted.
The ents were spectacular and much better made than I'd assumed (which pretty much summarizes the entire movie series thus far).
Galadriel was, despite her minimal screen time, fucking amazing as always. And, if you've not seen the extended version of Fellowship, you REALLY should. She had some things removed which made her only that much cooler.
Elrond. Well, I still dislike their choice of actors for him. Granted, Hugo Weaving is just a truly well rounded actor, and his roles always deliver quality and vigor, but his look just doesn't 'do it' for me, as a leader of Elves. They had so many pretty, ethereal people doing other elves, he's a sort of discontinuity to me. Ah well, he still acted superbly.
And then of course, there's Logolas. I want him. Particularly after seeing the Making Of pieces on the first Fellowship set, where he was a real British Punk, mohawk and all. Jesus. YUM!YUM!YUM!
All in all, definitely a delight for all. The first time I checked my watch in the entire thing was about 6 minutes before the end, which says something in a three hour movie. It was paced perfectly. And, much like The Empire Strikes Back, it was a very shitty tale that had to be told. And just like the other, it was told so amazingly that I felt dirty when leaving the theatre. So much pain, and despair and hardship, offset only somewhat by the triumphs of the men and ents. Only the third movie will really wipe it all clean, which is as it should be. And next Christmas can't come soon enough now.
