It's funny....

And I'm DEFINITELY an enemy combatant now because I'm going to mention this....

Mark Foley convo threads behind this. )
It's funny.  If I, or practically ANYONE else made such lewd and suggestive commentary to a 16 or 17 year old of the same gender, we'd be strung up and hung to dry on John Walsh's Political-Posing-As-Justice witch hunt machine.  But according to the Congresspersons in charge of the Page system and more, Mark did nothing untoward or wrong.  Wow.  I guess this is the same level of competence and understanding of right/wrong that led High Chancellor Bush to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to those three dipshits that fucked up the early days of Iraq so soundly for us.  And allowed him to tell the former head of FEMA that he was doing a heckuva job.  And, and, and....

Truth is subjective, of course.  One man's truth may or may not have any bearing on another's.  But COME ON.  There IS, or at least there was until very recently, something called the Rule of Law.  Laws that these people INSISTED were for the good of the country.  But apparently, just like the nucular option so flaunted and threatened by the NeoCon Machine, it only really applies to those not on the Hill and those that can't buy their way to having some influence on the Hill.  Hyposcrisy is sickening.  To see it done in this degree, by these people who are all making some sort of claim toward moral superiority just truly makes me ready to drop some sort of non-existant WMD on them all and toast marshmallows on their distinegrating bones.

Huh.  SG-1 weirdness

It's funny.  I"ve been watching more and more of Stargate SG-1 on DVD (as I've gotten insanely lucky on finding them dirt cheap lately).  I had a problem with Season 7, the same one reported by many hundreds of other fans.  The upshot being that to finish the season out, I have downloaded the last two episodes.  And the ones from the computer are encoded slightly faster than the DVD's.  So everyone's voice sounds ... off.  Squeakier.  Just a curious little change from the TV back to the DVD, where I'd assume they're able to encode at the desired speed and such.
