As some of you know, I'm working on my Bachelor's of Business Administration. Well, for my homework for this week, I am reading the text. Boooooring. BUT! Then in Essentials of Strategic Managment, 4th Ed. by J. David Hunger and Thomas L Wheelen (2007), ISBN: 0131485237, I found this on page 89 (in a subject of defensive tactics to fend off attacks on your market share/profit/segment):
"Raise structural barriers: ... (10) encourage the government to raise barriers such as safety and pollution standards or favorable trade policies."
Wow. Just, wow. It's in the textbook to futz around with governmental controls and regulations. And here I thought it was just the Evil Corporate Overlords with Ivy League degrees that had nothing at all to do with ethics until recently that did this sort of shit. I know it's crying wolf for the umpteenth time, but our country well and truly is doomed. The New World Order is coming, and the only reason we know about it is because we're the home of so many multinational corps. Fresh Air brought to you by Sony-Nike is just around the corner. And all we'll be able to do is shake our heads and cry 'How did it come to this?'
