Ok, Go vs. Time

So, appropos of nothing at all, I have been diving through YouTube and hunting up various Ok, Go videos. And I'm truly stunned to see the change in the band's look/feel/video stylings over the past 8 years or so. Looking at the first video, Get Over It, from '02 (in the rec room with the ping pong table) it seems clear they were just after a new hard rock, lite Metal title/crown thingy, and put a whole lot of no creativity into the music or presentation. Scroll forward to Don't Ask Me (red lines on the wall with the chix in black vinyl) and it's starting to emerge. Next comes the Do What You Want (the insanely camouflaged wallpaper video) where things are REALLY starting to emerge into their own. Finally we come to the much-vaunted, even-more-loved recent stuff of Here It Goes Again (treadmills in motion), This Too Shall Pass (both the Goldberg variation and the marching band variation), White Knuckles (with pooches as part of the activities) and then End Love (with the duck, in the park, and the overnighter in the color coordinated sweatsuits). It's just amazing to see them migrating to this, with the music changing over to a more unique sound, and the videos having ... so much motion, color, and synchronization. Watch End Love again if you haven't and try and watch the surrounds, or the performers despite the surrounds -- it's just too busy on any level.

I love it. Thank you Ok, Go. You bring performance pieces to a new level and dimension.
