I have been turned on to Kevin Gilbert.  Every piece of praise I've read or heard about him to this point is woefully inadequate to capture the genius of this artist.  I highly recommend him to just about everyone I know; his work is right up there with Peter Gabriel in just pure power and depth.

Now I’m not one to make a lot
of omens and premonitions and fleeting thoughts
but I must admit that I tried to avoid his stare

with the look of an extinguished flame that might be lurking there
Waxing sad with drip and dreg,

you gotta remember we’re not in Kansas anymore
And remember always to look both ways,
say “please” and “thank you” and curtsey twice
before you gore their sacred dinosaurs…
