Well, better late than never
2007-Jan-21, Sunday 11:35 pmSince I was denied seeing Pan's Labyrinth on my birthday because it sold out on opening night, I saw it tonight.
Wow.
I'm still in shock.
It's clear that that movie wasn't made for an American audience. And I have to wonder what Hellboy might have been if it, too, hadn't been shackled with American Cinematic restrictions and stupidity.
Don't see this movie if you're faint of heart, or can't deal with a lot of very well portrayed, very raw violence. It's a very .... surreal film, as it should be, and yes, the Pan suit is quite nice. But damn if it won't leave you in a daze for days.
EDIT: Oh, yes. I have to wonder if The Number 23 is going to be at all good, or if it's just a tacky American knockoff of Pi and other truly excellent features.
