The truth is, after so many years you begin to lose more than your appetite. You wear a mask for so long you forget who you were beneath it.

Worse yet when you realize you were never clear on what was under the mask.

but that's fine. it's never to late to start learning. Sounds like a cliche, but the reason cliches irritate is that there can be a profound truth like a tiny grain of sand in an inverse pearl of banality.

And after all, insults sting the most if we think they're true. Why not so with the implicit challenges the sand bits in cliches fling in our faces ? :)
