Linux really is wired up very differently than Windows. And thank the ghods for it.

Changing the setting on the video display settings in anticipation of changing out the card was easy enough. Not doing the video card changeout right away, though, caused MAJOR headaches of speed and throughput performance on the box. Even simple IP masquerading and such was bogged way down. Popping the first card out and replacing with the 'right' card, even when removing 1GB of RAM for the new server that the other card is going into, put the performance back near where it was before all this started. Significantly lower memory, yet nearly the same performance.

I'd LOVE to see Win2K3 server do that.

you may like them (if you haven't already heard them). They're playing Portland (if you're still there) soon so I figured I'd mention it now.

I could love them just for the fact they resurrected the Cure's style of engineering the bass line on a lot of their songs. I miss that aural texture so much :)
