Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

Huh. You know, it's odd. I thought Ben Stein was rather intelligent overall, and a generally good guy. I'm very happy he got the money to make the film. I'm very glad that he was able to take his own prejudice for Faith and for God itself, which seemed pretty damn clear throughout the movie (especially when he presented the 'truth' as so scary with ominous music and all that when someone was a scientist they were pretty much guaranteed to no longer believe in God, unless they were Intelligent Designers, who weren't pushing their faith onto the debate at all, just ask 'em) and build a documentary about it. I'm equally glad he felt entirely comfortable with linking Darwinian Scientists and the oppresive regime they've constructed in the last 100 years or so with Nazism, and that Hitler felt compelled to act in accordance with Darwinian ideals in pursuing his own Eugenics program. I'm fully pleased that he couldn't be bothered to spell out that mistakes happen with EVERY scientific principle as the boundaries are tested, checked, retested, and rechecked. I'm super happy that he couldn't be bothered to present a side from someone that wasn't an Evil Scientific Overlord Bent on Ruling the World(!!) to portray that taking something as ridiculous as essentially faith-based science as being as wholly unscientific as you could get. And I'm just as super happy that he never ONCE tried to explain that the Intelligent Design 'victims' were trying to use their ID situation to propose finding a priori knowledge for something we're only barely understanding now, a posteriori, while attacking the efforts to understand the situation through modern methods. Quotes like "I think molecular biology is teetering on the brink [of collapse]" certainly go a long way to proving that it IS on the brink, especially with someone that was victimized by the Scientific Pillars of Repression.

Ben, once upon a time I admired you. I thought you were a good guy. I'm pleased you were able to make your little project, and express your own desires and freedoms through it. And now I'm going to express my own. Good bye Ben. I'll never trouble you with any more attention or support of any kind ever again. You're as witty and intelligent and open minded to me now as I regard Still-President Bush. I'm sorry to see things sway so radically against the grain this way, but it does take a fairly good effort to entirely invert my regard so far, and you definitely gave it that effort.
