Awesome and Annoyed!
2009-Sep-21, Monday 02:17 pmAwesome: I got the old computer I have been trying to get working with Windows Media Center and the Hauppage HVR-1850 to work together finally communicating properly! Yay! So now, with the Hauppage card I can control the Comcast control box (for right now their total pile-of-shit DVR) with a Media Center remote and have it blast the controls over to the DVR. No more losing programs, or quadrupal recording of shows like Countdown or Rachel Madow. Plus it handles my music library natively too, so now I can turn on any music I like through the home stereo speakers and listen to it while I'm cooking or studying or doing anything else in the other rooms. Finally, I can also now install Windows 7 Ultimate/Home Premium, or the same versions of Vista (yeah, right) and have the two media center clients chat with each other so I can watch the recorded programs on my monitors in super res beauty. Triple hooray!! ;)
Annoyed: No one in my friends list, that I can recall, has talked at all about January '10's release of the premium cable movie, Spartacus. This is a VERY modern remake, and looks like a combination of 300 and Gladiator. And oh-ho the manflesh in it is very, very choice. :)
