The Retardican Party has a long, and distinguished history of rewriting the past to suit their own narrative. Just look at the memoirs and tell-alls from the Bush Administration. And how utterly absurd most of their bullshit is, capped like a cherry on a shit-sundae by Cheney's contribution. No apologies, no regrets, nothing was 'wrong' with anything they did. Nothing was wrong with how they went about anything. And anyone that claims otherwise is Unamerican and Commie.
I just read up on Anonymous' efforts at Taking Back Wallstreet (see my retweet of Wil W.'s tweet.) It was ... disturbing to see the quotes from 1984 again when watching some of the videos on the DailyKos page. And the more I checked back into them, the more I realized it's not a joke. It's not even mildly humorous. It's stark, and it's frankly fucking terrifying. "War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength." Bachmann herself has either directly alluded to, or outright said these three Party Slogans in her political career and on her Presidential Nomination trail. And she gets *cheered* for doing so.
I know I slam the Retardicans for being outright evil, outright hypocrites, and outright shitbags. And yes, it goes beyond simple 'political disagreement' for me -- you can't call me and mine 'sick' or 'perverted' or imply we're somehow less than full citizens of the country because we fuck (and like it!) members of our same sex and not earn my ire and undying hatred. But this level of crazy.... ESPECIALLY after those fuckbags on Faux News quoted parts of the Communist Manifesto to Obama as though to trip him up into admitting he's totally a Socialist.... This goes beyond anything rational.
And again, we're not allowed to actually realize the pure terror of the level to which the Tea Party and the rest of the Retardican Faithful have sunk into this 1984, Big Brother, Party-as-High-Priest mentality. Otherwise, we're *gasp* Intellectual Elites, and that has also become A Bad Thing (c) in American politics.
Even if the Independent vote swings wildly away from the Retardicans and the Tea Party in '12, it won't matter. Even if we FINALLY get a 60 vote majority in the Senate by some miracle, and get a strong majority in the House again, It. Won't. Matter. They're only going to ratchet up the rhetoric yet again, just like with the anti-choice crowd. Until someone does another political assassination effort like with Giffords. And then magically, the Party will decry that as 'going too far' even as some of them say things like 'While I wouldn't ever wish it on the Dems, at least that person (the criminal) had the guts to show those Evil Dems who's boss!!!' to the inevitable cheers and such of their little party/collective.
There is only one solution to this. And very few will actually like that solution. But it's all that's left. They've made that abundantly clear. We didn't stomp those worthless shitpiles in the Deep South for their secession, and now it's raising its head yet again. We didn't stomp those same shitpiles for their resistance to granting blacks equal rights, even when it was the law of the land, and enshrined in their overly-touted Constitution. And we're only just now starting to finally get equality.
When the next war with these extremist terrorists comes, I hope the leadership will have the real courage to do what's actually necessary. No more tolerance. No more forgiveness. This is literally and truly a spiritual cancer that continually smears our country, and our moral soul as a country. And next time, it needs to be eradicated entirely. Period. Assuming, of course, the morons haven't actually elected a full complement of Retardicans to all 3 branches again. Because that worked out so fucking well for us for 6 years under BushCo.
