Pupdate, to borrow the term from Chris.
2004-May-23, Sunday 04:38 pmWell, wow. Three breakthroughs today.
One, it's just pitiful to have to fatten up a pooch. Not only do they seem so absurdly happy to have *gasp* food, but they also just add weight in such goofy proportions. His chest is getting massive while his rear hips and flanks are soooooo thin and bony still. He almost looks like Circus pup.
Two, though, was much nicer. He barked at me today. We learned a new game, it seems, where I get on all fours, we face off, and then I rub my head up under his chin and chest. He LOVES it. He'll tear off for a bit, whip around and come bounding right back for more, on his front elbows, butt in the air, tail a'waggin' like a madman. But today, he actually woofed at me in happiness, which was to me a wonderful breakthrough. Granted, in this environment, he can't exactly bark and bark and wag and wag all the time. But dammit, he's just so cute.
Three, just out of the blue, he decided that the puppy pillow I'd laid out for him a month ago was suddenly viable to sleep on. And he's been doing it freely and happily for hte last couple of nights. HOORAY! It's so annoying. He obviously knows just what he's expected and can do. yet, all the time, he's doing what he knows he can't do, just to test my patience and his boundaries. Typical pooch. :)

on 2004-May-23, Sunday 11:47 pm (UTC)And as a sidebar, tonight as I was walking him, he actually started instigating play, and woofed a few more times, as though to demand more playtime. Such a tremendous pooch he is. :)
