Hooray for car work
2004-Jun-03, Thursday 09:10 pmFinally.
Finally!
Got the carb rebuilt, though because of the aftermarket carb thingy Matt put in, there is yet another delay in getting that affixed. The original posts, or new ones of the same size and length, will need to be found first. Then a few dozen feet of vaccuum tubing will be needed to finalize as much of the system as can be done.
Of course, since nothing is simple, EVER, the fuel pump relay thingy died while puttering around getting parts for the carb rebuild. And, since we've already talked about how simple things are, this engine taps a 'revolution sensor' that has no mention in the Chilton's beyond the wiring diagram to feed the fuel pump. Great. So, courtesy of Matt correcting a wiring issue, the relay we'd purchased is now installed and alive and kicking. Hooray. So now I'm back mobile. We'll see how the newly rebuilt carb goes when the screws are applied tomorrow. If it works as advertised (yeah, right, I know), I'll be thrilled. I'll be getting better gas mileage, and smoother ride, as well as not having that wonderful *sputtersputtercoughdie* when the engine is too cold.
