Well, fucking hoo-ray!
2004-Jun-20, Sunday 12:25 pmI found a 'new' Upull It yard out in Tigard, where they have a HUGE selection of barely touched Subaru's. And, guess what. Not one, but two with Hitachi carb systems totally intact. 21 pictures, $6.50, and a whole lotta wrenching later, and I got some serious vacuum lines and assemblies that I'd been missing so far.
That was yesterday. 3 hours later, I finally got the intake manifold 'almost' totally off. I hadn't put two and two together, until last night, that the manifold I took off in about 20 minutes at another yard didn't actually have an AC motor sitting atop it. Damn that's going to be a make-or-break pile of crap. Regardless, I'm nearly done with the tear down. The fixings and such will take moments, and then it's back together. And now, Hooray For Earth! I'm nearly finished up with the whole vacuum system. Then to install the O2 sensor, and theoretically, I should see a dramatic increase in efficiency and performance of the carbing system, and a drop off in the stupid CO% that has totally screwed me so far. :)
PS -- To anyone that might need these lines and pics for an 84-89 Subaru 1600/1800 series, that'll be $100 per pic, thanks. Gotta get some money rolling somehow after all. And since people all over will pay good money for really silly porn, maybe there are a few that find rubber hoses serving some 'other' function to be hot too. ;)
