So, I took the plunge Labor Day, as most know. They were offering free phones (with that stupid mail-in rebate), and they had Droid 2's available (tragically no Droid X's). But I'm pretty much sold on the device, and on the platform now, and the slide out keyboard for the Droid 2 completes the package of function, form, and convenience. Plus, it's WONDERFUL having a browser that actually works with 'actual' web pages, not just the 3 carefully sculpted by Sprint.
And last night, any doubts were erased completely. I was able to load up a 16GB microSD card (32 is the max size for this device), and then load some MP3's on it. Well, with said MP3's, I was then able to utilize the Dr. J. Thompson delta rhythm inducing CD's directly, rather than playing them through the ultra-crappy clock radio I got years ago. Slept like a log. A dead, decaying log. Woke up early too, without the need for the alarm clock at all. Yeah, I know, pretty much all phones today will allow such, but having the ability to swap out SD cards in the phone, and being able to tote extra MP3's and programs and data that easily makes this a better platform, in that regard, than the iPhone series.
I guess after I'm done with all work today, I'll call the Verizon cust. support # and get my old account shut down completely and my phone number transferred. Buh-bye Sprint. Can't say I didn't give you a chance to keep my business.
