iTunes vs. Quicktime

I have to wonder if it's the iTunes crap that's now forcibly bundled with QT that's causing all this distortion through the speakers when I play .mov files.  Yet it's only when I'm playing those.  And my SB Audigy drivers are current.  And no other video source causes this problem at all.  Huh.

You have to look around a little, but you CAN get Quicktime without iTunes. Just dig in the apple site a bit, and try to ignore the 'value add' spyware bullshit they're pushing. Yeah, I hate iTunes.

Alternatively, there are other players who play MOV files, too - MPC (http://sf.net/projects/guliverkli), for example (which is what I use for this purpose).

Thanks! It's not that I hate iTunes per se. It's actually a semi-useful tool for managing and playing and whatnot. It's only that the last two upgrades seem to be what really broke my movie play that gets me. But I'll see if the player by itself will fix this problem or not.
