Two things about TV lately
2008-May-13, Tuesday 07:43 pmSo, if you haven't watched Jon Stewarts Interview with Douglas Feith from last night, two things. First, what the fuck is wrong with you???!! Go watch it now! http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=168543&title=douglas-feith-uncut-pt.-1&episodeId=168132
And be sure and follow it over to part 2. Amazingly good stuff. But one of the comments on their blog response column for the second video just really gets me in my heart of hearts.
"I think I'm gonna be sick. When Jon Stewart, a "fake" news guy gives more hard hitting questions, than "real" news, I think something is terrifyingly wrong! Corporate media is controlled by the government. They have a vested interested in keeping the American people "stupid". ...."
There's more, but that's the critical stuff. I just truly get stumped when I see people's reactions like this, and yet things like abortion and gay marriage and so much more is still being decided by these described stupid Americans. How can people just truly not 'get' it in this age of information and opinion freedom?
Anyway, on the second point, I don't know how many, if any, of you use a Windows Media Center install for your recording habits, vs. the Dish/Cable DVR or Tivo or MythTV setups. But a very disturbing and annoying thing happened when I was trying to nab more content for drooling over with American Gladiators. Seems that MS has some sort of deal with NBC at least. Now, NBC can block me recording AmGlad. A little box pops up and tells me 'Nope! Epic Fail for you, beeyatch!!'. WTF?? I thought the only major concern for the studios was making sure this would mimic VCR technology, which would be entirely non-plussed by this restriction. Ghods I fucking hate MS and their notions of DRM.
