I just want to keep this here, too.

*blinks* Are you serious?

Crude oil prices have been going up steadily since the invasion of Iraq. It's only lately that the prices at the pump have finally caught up with the crude oil situation. This is the Dem's fault from 2 years ago? Check your calendar and the pricing indices please. Every time Bush made a speech about crushing Iraq, fighting in Afghanistan, or threatening Iran, the markets have gone up, up, up. So, unless you're going to say that the Dems were pulling his puppet strings before they got the majority, or that the hundred dollar bump is due entirely to them being in 'power' for the past 2 years when the war has gone on so much longer, then I guess discussing this is truly a lost cause.

Housing has been skyrocketing for over 5 years. People were going into housing agreements they never, ever could have afforded and that continued to drive the prices of housing ever higher. Period. Check the ARM terms. This has been building and building since the start of Bush's term. This only came to be a problem in the past 2 years because that's when the reset of the mortgage rate happened, not because of anything Pelosi did. And what was the Republican response? Meh, let the market sort it out. Bush flat-out refused to do ANYTHING to try and stabilize the market for months, and now that we're truly teetering on the brink, he and his Fed cohorts have finally done 'something' which ultimately will boil down to a bail-out they swore they wouldn't do, or is just more pandering to the crowds that won't amount to anything, depending on how they implement the process. Yeah, this is definitely the Dem's fault who have had only a marginal majority for all of 2 years. It's definitely a better idea to let all the banks die, all those investments end, and then at the end after things have gotten truly desperate to talk about enforcing stricter controls on the mortgage industry, and trying to actually help people somehow stay in the houses they're in. Because that's precisely what happened. But again, I'm sure that since Fox Noise, Limbaugh and especially O'Reilly say it isn't this way, it must not be that way. History belongs to the loudest liars, not the ones with the facts, after all.

Unemployment has been steadily growing for most of Bush's term. Check the numbers. The 'good' news reports that I continually heard on the radio and via the Web were that the market rallied when the figures weren't as bad as predicted. His constant encouragement of companies to ship our jobs overseas, the economic incentives to cut the American Peoples' collective throat for the profit of the top 5% has been steadily eroding our industrial, commercial and white collar job base.

Pelosi and the Dems have made multiple attempts to get the things done that were promised. And what were she and the hard line Dems greeted with? The very same stall tactics that the Republicans threatened to use the 'Nuclear Option' to remove: the filibuster. Almost constant veto threat from Prezzie Bush. They were not given enough of a majority to do ANYTHING in Congress without the consent of the 'Pubs. And because of that, it most effectively shackled any sort of real, legitimate progress they could have made. Personally, yes, I feel they should have sent up the 'faulty' legislation so Bush could finally veto something, unlike the previous 6 years of his administration. (Then at least they could have pointed the finger where it truly belongs, but instead they've been trying to heal the political divide and work toward compromise legislation rather than grind the country to a screeching halt.) Again, check the record. To my recollection, he vetoed exactly one thing. Just the Conservative ilk want to forget that we are now reaping the seeds he planted. Legislation takes a while to actually 'do' anything.

And let's also not forget the foresight of BushCo. The attacks of 9/11 were a lie. He intentionally demanded no investigation long enough to cover up the rest of the facts. He tried to cover up the violations of Federal Law he made by claiming powers that are NOT his to claim, under a blanket cover of an International lie: terrorism. He has repeatedly denied the simple truths of his major and minor blunders, preferring to live in his rosy little world rather than reality, where we can't just dictate foreign policy to the rest of the big nations of the world down the barrel of a gun.

He clearly got wind of the impending housing and credit market collapse, most likely from those very industries. That was most likely one of the key reasons why the bankruptcy 'reform' went through. If you honestly believe that it was all about the 'abusers', who were less than 10% of the total population of those needing bankruptcy protection, then you are definitely in lockstep with the unreality this country has been subjected to. Further, clearly the Kyoto Accord was just flat-out insanity. I mean, it was obvious then as now that Industry and Corporations bottom lines were far, FAR more important than the people that are employed there needing to be able to breathe and survive.

Let's also not forget about the economic issues that have been happening for the past year. It sure as hell wasn't any Democrat that stood up on National TV and said he'd veto any other stimulus for the economy than his own little pet project of $600 to each person. And let's also not forget that this is the SECOND time he's had to make such a stimulus available, the first under an all NeoCon Congress. Finally, let's not overlook that this $600 isn't free money, isn't our taxes at work, isn't anything but an advance against next year's returns, which most aren't going to want to remember. Nor that we had to borrow, yet again, hundreds of millions of dollars to make this happen since he has managed to flush the entirety of the surplus we were slated to have by now.

And on the topic of economic health, let's also not overlook the flagrant lies told about how the precious Iraqi War would be funded. Where's all this oil profit going? Oil is selling at or near record levels and has been for half a decade. Why are we constantly investing hundreds of millions a month in continued financing for this war? Wasn't that one of the promises made at the outset, that the oil profits would fund the war entirely?

Sorry to come off this way, but I've actually been paying attention these past 8 years. More, really, but when Bush turned psycho on 9/12, I REALLY sat up and started paying incredibly close attention. If you think I'm crazy, or whatever, feel free to refer to Chomsky, or any other actual intellectual you might regard (note this suggestion innately precludes anyone on Fox Noise or Limbaugh as they're not intellectual, just loud and obnoxious). The proof is all there, just cleverly swept under the American rug by the Conservatives to push their agenda along.

This country is headed for a Police State. If you think Obama is scary, just wait until McCain and BushCo push forward with the last rites for our Rights and Civil Liberties. Of course, then it will be too late.
