Throughout the course of the past 8 years, we've seen the Constitution destroyed, our freedoms alleviated, and the protections of equality and as consumers eroded month after month. We've seen our futures evaporate under the guidance of someone who, until the economy had already tumbled past the precipice it was clearly racing toward, was adamant that the 'foundations of the economy are strong' and that 'the economy is doing fine; this is just another small reset'. We've been fed lie after lie after lie about the war, from the original sales pitch for the war, to "Mission Accomplished" to the Iraqi reception, to the 'true cost' of the war, which has helped skyrocket our national debt to the point where my generation no longer has any hope whatsoever to fix the problem.
Enough is enough.
You have the opportunity now to send a clear message to those that destroy our freedoms, eavesdrop on our calls, hold our own citizens in prison for no substantial reason, deny them legal representation and even perform illegal hiring questions for what are supposed to be non-partisan positions in our government that such behavior WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. You have the opportunity now to start undoing what you and your fellows have done, either actively or passively, to further the agenda of the super-rich in making themselves and their peers even more wealthy at the expense of America, indeed of the World itself. You can act now to stem the losses inherent to this 'renegade' and 'outsider's lies and betrayals, the rewarding of the same as well as pure incompetence, and start the incredibly long, hard road of rebuilding the entirety of the credibility lost on both the foreign and domestic stage. You can start to undo the approval rating that ran below that of the President, who had the lowest on record for a time.
Stand for the people you were elected to represent. Don't bow any longer to money, or influence, or fear. You were elected to represent the best interests of the people, not the corporations and PAC's that have all gotten fat off the backs of the real workers, the so-called real Americans. You were elected to prevent such abominations as the last 8 years of Executive Tyranny from happening. Make things right, start the reality of impeachment. Form the necessary committee, in a fully transparent fashion and with as little political predisposition as is reasonably possible. Let them truly hear and see the evidence, and let them prove once and for all whether this President, and all he stood for, should be brought up on High Crimes charges, put on the world stage, and convicted in every conceivable way to undo the nightmare that have been the hallmark of his rulership.
Be the "uniter" he claimed to be. Bring America back together with the World, as we are a part of that world. The current financial crisis that was ignored until it was too late proves how intrinsic we are to the World, and the World is to us. Prove to the World that we're not meant to be the Peace Makers of the World, that we do indeed respect the sovereignty of our fellow nations. Prove to the World that when someone commits crimes, no matter how high in our government, that they are truly not above the law. Prove to the World that we are not so narrow minded as he wishes to portray us, prove to the world that when there is a problem we will take action, not spit in the eye of our fellow leaders (such as departing comments highlighting that we are the most polluting nation on the globe at a summit to discuss pollution).
Enough is enough.
You were all given a clear mandate from the populace that the Republican reign is over. Make it clear that such actions will not be tolerated again. Make it clear that there is always room to work together, but not with criminals and villains that shame even the most diabolical of the Hollywood imagination. Make it clear that We, The People have our priorities in line and we shall overcome any obstacle to a free, clear exercise of our democracy and our law, and that our law is impartial to any claims of Executive Privilege. Shielding yourself from the law only compounds the problems by highlighting the fear of justice.
