I'm SOOOOOO glad this happened now. Had it happened in the 8 years before Obama, there's every reason to believe this would have been completely pardoned because litigation like this is 'bad for business', and the 'market should be free of restrictions' like patent law.

Fuck you Microsoft. Maybe someday you'll learn what the rest of the world already knows: taking other people's toys without asking is illegal. And you're NOT so important that you can do it anyway without retribution.

I'm a little mixed on this. On the one hand, I like seeing MS getting swatted. On the other hand, I find software process patents to be incredibly stupid and detrimental. It's like patenting medical procedures or DNA, both of which have happened. Just stupid and generally a bad idea..

Well, honestly, to that specific part of this, I concur. I'm reminded of the patent on the GMO of wheat by the people that own Roundup. Total bullshit, and because of the nature of life itself, and the way they 'enforce' this patent, completely destructive to the small farmers.

I'm mostly just thrilled that MS got nailed by this because, according to the article, there were eMails floating around that they KNEW about this and decided to do it anyway. Their old 'embrace-and-extend' mentality finally got them in even more trouble, again, and they definitely deserve another beat-down for it.
