I just got back from the allergist. Got a happy little scratch test done to see what I'm 'really' allergic to. MMMmmmm, if you've never had one, I HIGHLY recommend it. Everyone should feel the joy of being poked, in a highly non-erotic way, by 94 needles.

According to the results:

I'm not allergic to 10 of 32 tree pollens tested for.
I'm allergic to every grass pollen tested for (these were by far the worst reactions).
I'm allergic to all but one of the weed pollens they tested for.
I'm allergic to only some of the 'perennial inhalants' tested for (cat, dustmite, house dust, hamster and 'histamine').
And, the biggest surprise of all, I'm not allergic to any molds whatsoever.

And now we begin the lovely, and joyous treatment to get shots weekly or more frequently, to start my immune system dealing with this properly. And, gee, in maybe about 5 months, I can actually move to about monthly shots, if I'm lucky and my system 'takes to' dealing properly.

At least I can keep taking the Allegra 180's, the nasal decongestant, and the newly-prescribed antihistamine eye drops. (Where the fuck were they 20 years ago?? Would have saved lots and lots of irritation.)

Allergy Injections!

Been there, done that. I was much younger and it was when we were out on vacation that we took me to an allergy clinic. I took injections for a year afterwards. I'm glad I took them, my allergies are greatly reduced because of it. Coinicidentially enough, it got me over alot of my hangups with getting shots. It wasn't a big injection, but I got it once a week.
