Dearest Sprint

Well, I popped by today just to try and give you a shot at keeping me as a customer. I checked to see what I could get with either the Samsung Galaxy S phone or the HTC Evo phone, since they're the type I've got my eye on. So, I waited a good 30 minutes to chat with someone in the lobby area. I played with shiny phones while I waited, which just convinced me that the Evo is Teh Awesome style phone.
So, he looked up my account when I got to talk to someone finally. He said that I do indeed qualify for an upgrade 'credit'. It's good for $150 off the regular price of any phone, and didn't prohibit me from getting any and all mail-in rebates as well. Bottom line? The same price as any other, total n00b customer would get. Strike 1.
I asked then about my phone, and buyback credit on it. This is the Windows Mobile phone I got at the new contract, just over 2 years ago now. Nope, it's 'too old' and didn't qualify for anything at all. So, this $500 smartphone is now valueless?? Strike 2.
Looking at my account, he also said that I'd need a new phone plan. What??!? Yes, the Standard Talk 200 plan I was on would no longer qualify for any of the new phones. I was going to be locked into the unlimited plan, whether I needed it or not. Oh, and I'd also be spending another fixed money drop because it didn't include unlimited text/data, like my current plan does. The price? At least $70/mo. Absolutely no fucking difference from Verizon or AT&T (without the iPhone plans). Strike 3.
Yeah. Sprint, you've been flushing your customer service right down the toilet for years now. I'm outta here. I'd just as soon give my money to Verizon at this point, and most of my Bay Area friends were venemous, to say the least, toward Verizon. That's how sick to death I am of your games and bullshit 'service' Sprint. It has been a relatively long relationship, but the history we have together DEFINITELY puts me in the mindset that you'll do better with someone else. And so will I. So, as soon as I can afford it, I'm heading off to Droid X land. It's now confirmed.
