I'm in shock beyond measure right now.

And, unfortunately, I'm far too angry with Comcast in general to believe that they 'had nothing to do with this' and they were not going to 'exert operational control over NBC's news production'. Yeah. Right.

Comcast is pure fucking evil, and while Keith certainly had his faults, I don't believe one of them was the pomposity to believe he was immune to their evil.

I wish you all the best, Keith. Thank you for sharing your insights on your program, both political and personal. You did more for the Left and this country's health than almost anyone else.

I made a note in my journal about him. Well, it was more about me than him. But I said that his angry guy attitude made it harder for him to get through to people.

(Of course, rush limbaugh's toxic 'angry white conservative' attitude never seems to wear on his followers.)

I was reading an article about Al Franken bitching up a storm about the lax net neutrality law and the Comcast takeover of NBC which had just gone through. Then a few hours later Olbermann was axed.
Yeah, I'm sure Comcast had Nothing to do with it...

No matter how good the argument is from whoever says it, no matter which side they're on, the people that NEED to hear it never will. People like Olbermann, Beck, Limbaugh, etc are always ONLY preaching to their OWN choirs. Keith Olbermann would never have the opportunity to change the mind of a right-leaning viewer for the same reason that Glen Beck will never have an opportunity to change your mind. Sadly, no minds are changed as a result, regardless of how sensible or sane the argument is.

And isn't the Olbermann thing old news? I heard he was getting sacked a while back over some campaign contribution thing.

He was suspended over the campaign contribution thing, but then was back on the air VERY shortly thereafter.

And while it's true that K.O. would not have changed any extremists on the Right, I still firmly believe that the middle is only ever between the two loudest, sharpest, "ugliest" sides that exhibit themselves. So, while he might not have changed their minds, at least he gave the middle something a lot less Bush-like to believe, and a locus not nearly so right-leaning as Beck and Limbaugh and Hannity and all the rest of those defectives would have the Right believe.
