HP and the Deathly Hallows
2011-Jan-24, Monday 02:00 pmSo, I reread this book recently, during my infrequent reread of the entire series.
I was soooooo wrong about it before.
I was so angry about what had happened with book 6 (the death of Dumbledore) that I obviously had some serious blinders and filters on while reading it the first time. Seeing the first part of movie 7, courtesy of Jim and John, made me wonder what they'd made up, such as the death of Dobby.
Well, rereading it, yeah Harry was all about angry whining and such. But overall, there was a LOT more thought in this book than I'd recalled from the first read. I still wasn't thrilled with the concept of the Deathly Hallows, but she hadn't just pulled it out of her ass to solve the problem. No, there was suitable foreshadowing as in the other books to justify and clarify it.
I still wouldn't rate it on par with books 4 or 6, but it was quite good overall, nonetheless.
