So I'm putting off purchasing a new mattress just a bit even though I'd budgeted for it in my tax return. Why? I'm more than a tad fearful of this job folding suddenly, and me not being able to return over $800 of mattress for a refund.

So, I picked up a King Size gel memory foam mattress pad at Costco yesterday to try and be a bridge solution until I can get a new mattress. Well, with the pad on the bed, I can't feel the springs through what remains of the pillow top at least. That is a HUGE plus unto itself. However, it doesn't offset the huge body shape depressions on each side of the mattress (flipping it and rotating it is no longer an option it's so decrepit). So, this is most assuredly only a temporary measure, but at least my body isn't rubbing against the metal of the inner guts of the damn mattress.

I'm also somewhat seriously toying with just getting 2 more of these pads, and using them only as the mattress. 6" of gel memory foam can't be that bad to sleep on at all.....
