Food/overeating triggers...
2011-Aug-24, Wednesday 10:46 amHrm. Isn't that interesting. I was at Big Lots! yesterday shopping for something else, and I noticed the little grape flavored Mike & Ike pouch for $.50. Well, I love them, so I picked up a couple, and snacked on them. I know, not exactly in keeping with my diet desires, but they were tasty. Well, a few hours later, I was struck with an overwhelming hunger. Not just a 'Hey, I might like a bit of fruit' type hunger, but a 'defrost the fucking freezer, I want it all, NOW!!!!' type hunger. And it struck me that I haven't been feeling that level of hunger in some time, not since the diet and such started. And then I realized that the only thing different lately was those little candies. It was definitely unpleasant to feel that last night, and now that I know, they are definitely flushed away and verboten from the house.
But that also got me to thinking about the realities of 'food' in this country. If a tiny little nothing of a candy like that can truly trigger "EAT-EAT-EAT" sensations, is it any wonder why there's a huge obesity problem (unless you're an outright science-denier like .... some in this country, of course) in this country? Well, at least these Corporations are making money hand over fist by destroying folks' health, and that's clearly what 'really' matters here.
