As far as....?

Job wise, they're horrible. IT is deader than dead up here, and that's really all I can afford or am soundly qualified for.

Generally in a social setting? They're fabulous. There's a lot more repression up here than in the Bay, but that goes for most of the country. At least there's prettier eye candy up here, since families and people other than crusty old timers and such can afford to be here.

Cost of living is about half what it is down there. In just about every regard. And there are restaurants up here. TONS of 'em.

Scenery is absolutely spectacular. The river is beautiful year round, and there are forests. HUGE forests. And several enormous mountains. Not like the Rockies, but few ranges are. And the rolling fields in some areas.... Yeah, if I were employed, I doubt you'd be able to get me out of the area with anything short of dynamite. Or providing me with the perfect partner elsewhere.
